I just had a problem with my engine overheating. They were booked up and recommended that I try a place around the corner from them. I took the car there and the guy was extolling his virtues as a Volvo service person and said that there was no charge to examine the car and give an estimate. When I came back, he told me that I needed a new water pump and a new radiator. Also, because of the location of the water pump, he'd also have to remove and replace the timing belt. It would cost about $900 using genuine Volvo parts or about $750 using after-market parts. I decided to wait for Francesco's to have an opening and let them do whatever work was necessary. I haven't got the car back yet but, after speaking with him, the overheating is due to a bad thermosat -- a $20 part plus 1 hour labor!!!! It's not what you know, it's WHO you know!!

Francesco's Auto was recommended to us years ago by a good friend of ours. Despite the distance (probably 20 miles, since we live in Manhattan), we have continued to work with Frankie, one of the owner's sons. He has maintained four different used cars for us over some 25 years. We have complete confidence in their honesty and their clarity in explaining the car troubles. The staff are always pleasant and the place is clean. We recommend them highly. My only regret is that they aren't open later in the evenings, and they are closed on weekends, from Saturday noontime.
