One thing that stands out is that he always takes the car for a ride with you (if rideable) before work is started and goes over things so you understand and then takes the car for a ride with you again at completion. Not something you find easily these days. He'll usually call a number of places and let you be part of the decision when certain parts are needed that aren't in his shop (used transmission for my Honda, etc.). He'll give you the pluses and minuses of the choices. He's currently working the shop himself, but he's definitely of the OLD School...do the job once and do it right...listen before and after the repair...etc. His labor prices are very reasonable, but I'll leave it to him. My first experience was from a recommendation from a friend. My fiance's car was not in good shape (towed from PA). Turns out the master cylinder was the problem. Coming from Brooklyn-NY myself, and having interesting experiences there in my early car trouble days, I realized he could have easily jacked-up the problem and claimed more than he did with the work needed and it could have come to an easy $1000. It turned out to be only a few hundred and he had a customer for life...with many recommendations to friends, etc. (and now here). As for any doubts, I can only say this...here's my name and address: Ned L. Stromfeld - 97 Shirley Street - 14610 He's been my mechanic for 3 years now and I've never regretted it. You'll find he's courteous to potential and current customers and does his very best to get the car back to you in a timely manner. He'll get a kick out of it when I tell him I did this: John's National Garage 1091 Culver Road Rochester, NY 14609 (716) 288-3211
