I have dealt with Hunt's Auto for multiple problems/maintenance repairs on my car and I have always found them to be honest, fast and reasonably priced. I tried (briefly) going to another mechanic in town because it was closer to my home and more convenient but quickly returned to Hunt's for all of the reasons listed above. I have never had a problem with Hunt's.

The guy you normally talk to at the desk is named Brian. He must have not taken the required "Ethics of Automechanics" while he was in mechanic school. What I mean to say is, that whenever I decide something is wrong with my car and that they need to fix it (such as i thought my wheels needed to be balanced, a $25 job) he checks it out, and if it won't fix the problem, he tells me so, and doesn't take my money. This shop also deals tires, especially cooper, and if i tell him about a good deal somewhere else, instead of trying to dissuade me, he'll tell me honestly if he thinks I should go with the other guys or not. Also any work they do do on the car is done quickly, well, and a good deal cheaper than many of the other shops in the area. If you go there, be sure to talk to Brian.

This repair shop has been in business forever with the same family. They don't have a turn over in employees and they all act like they are the owners. They treat you with respect and are very open about their assessments of the work needed. The owner (Brian) is one of the best mechanics I ever had and if they don't fix something the first time, they don't charge labor to fix their mistake. This auto shop is one of the reasons I stay in Ithaca.

Great experience taking my car to these guys for its 90,000 mile tune-up. Honda of Ithaca said it would need a new timing belt and water pump, and that the total cost would be around $700 or $800. I'd heard from others (and on here) that Hunt's was good, so I went there instead; they took a look and determined that the belt had already been replaced at a previous service, and they didn't even charge me for the time it took them to check out the belt. My car (1996 Honda Civic) is running *smooth* after they did the automatic transmission tune-up. Rory and Rick are both friendly, and took the time to explain what they were going to do / what they'd done.

After reading the reviews here, I would've went to AutoWorks. But, I was afraid my car wouldn't make it there. I was closer to Hunts and they had good reviews too. They were able to get me in the next day, were very friendly on the phone, and called me before they did any work and gave me a price quote as promised. I'm female, and I never felt 'talked down to' and I wasn't flirted with. My car is running great ( I only picked it up today, I'll write again if there's problems). And they let it slide when I was a couple dollars short. All in all, a great experience. I'd definitely go there again.

1.They told me my transmission slowdown/check engine light problem was just a computer hiccup and, "If it ain't broke..." They were right (5K miles ago). B. ... and they charged me $0---Nada---I felt so cheep!!! III. They inspected my 2002 Chevy van in 1 hour rather than the one day that my prior guys had needed. 4. They do a good business, but seem to have an efficient system. C. Neg: Their magazine collection sucks---unless you like "W" By the way, the Cars Guys rock (and I'm an over 60 grouch)---No wonder NPR looks askance at them. Perhaps if they had British accents like the Britcom they really are. But WHY IS this text centered?

My car was making a loud and violent rattling sound while in reverse and fourth gear. At other shops, I was told it was either a bad axle or a problem with the transmission. Brian at Hunt's had it for a couple of hours...turns out the exhaust pipe along the undercarriage was loose, causing it to rattle. He tightened it up. The cost to me: $0. I was flabbergasted. I am always going back to Hunt's, and I highly recommend you do as well.
