Just had my 97 VW Jetta TDI(diesel)worked on.. Car has 205000 miles and needed a new timing belt.. Made appointment, and got in the next day at my convience. Joe told me what he was going to do and how much it would cost and how long it would take and delivered on all of it!! Cortland is a small town with no dealer closer than 60 milesround trip and until I found Joe a O'Shea Tires it was always a hassle to find anyone even remotely competent to work on a VW to say nothing of a VW diesel.. In my line of work I need maximum mileage and minimum down time.. I have been driving VW diesels for 23 years and have probably saved millions on fuel and maintaince(well certainly tens of thousands)but would hesitate buying another as I had noone I could depend on to work on them.. Joe recently has purchased O"Shea Tires and seems ready and willing to make it a real success. I would certainly consider buying another VW diesel when this one finally gets worn out now that I have a shop to go to.. I have purchased tires and small maintaince jobs from O"Shea Tires for years but never had to have any major work done there. The last timeing belt was put on buy the local Suburu dealer and I felt like they were doing me a favor rather than just completing needed work for me. I told them I'd be happy to buy a Suburu, just show me the one that gets 45+miles per gallon and needs very little maintaince and costs less than 20,000 dollars.. Needless to say they were not forthcoming.. I truly don't understand why more people don't drive VW diesels, I've been getting more than 40 miles per gallon for over 20 years.. The last VWdiesel I had(before the 97) had 263000 miles on it when I traded it in.. Anyone needing work down on any car(as far as I know)should consider O"Shea Tire in Cortland..
