Replaced the timing belt on my old Isuzu. The car is on it's last legs and Joe even told me that it might not be worth doing the job (since the car may die of other reasons before the belt goes). You gotta love that... anyway, he did it for me super quick and was able to keep costs down and came in below his estimate. I will use him again.

Joe is a great guy. He's saved me a few times. On one occasion, 54th Street Auto in Manhattan (a TERRIBLE place) said I needed a new alternator AND battery. That seemed fishy to me so I had my car towed to Joe's. Turned out they had deliberately pulled the plug on the alternator and I only needed a battery. Joe also works very quickly and professionally. You won't be disappointed with him!

We were lucky enough to move in next door to Joe's shop, so that whenever something happened to our car Joe was right there to fix it. He always did a great job, was very honest, and would tell us up front what the price would be so that we could decide whether or not it was worth it to get it fixed (our car is kind of a piece of crap, but it was in good hands with Joe). He took really good care of it. We were sorry to move away. He's right off the Humboldt/ McGuiness exit on the BQE, and open regular weekday hours, except they close at 2 on Fridays. Really nice group of guys working for him.

Joe knows city cars. The first question he asked me was "how pretty do you want it?" and was absolutely fine when I said I didn't care how it looked just as long as it would run. A mechanic for the rest of us.

Don't confuse this garage with the one on the corner of Meeker and Metropolitan. That place is a complete rip off. They can't be trusted. I have no experience with these guys who I think are on the East side of the BQE.

It's no exaggeration to say that I wouldn't still have my car if it weren't for Joe. I've had a lot of mechanics over the years but never one I feel as comfortable with as Joe. He's really gone out of his way for me on a couple of occasions and the bill is usually so reasonable that I leave him an extra $20 (I always look up the cost of the parts he's using). Joe can come off as a little gruff at first. He won't want to stand and chat with you, but if you ask he will explain exactly what the problem was, how he diagnosed it, and what he did to fix it. Without the confidence that Joe's honesty and competence give me I would have given up on keeping a car in Brooklyn three years ago. Can't recommend him highly enough.
