When I noticed that my inspection was about to expire, I called around for a place that could inspect my car the same day. I also wanted one tire rebalanced that I knew was a problem. King Bear told me to come on in and that they could take me right away. I got there and waited around until they finally took my car in to do the inspection. They pretty much demanded that I have all my wheels balanced instead of just the one and I conceded with a bad feeling as they already removed all the tires and my car was up on the rack seemingly being held ransom. I suspected they wanted to extract something from me and the cost of a rebalance was not the worse thing that could happen. Then they said that I needed a brake job in what was the most high pressure sales pitch I ever had to endure in my life. I do the brakes myself and knew they were fine. I felt that I had to play along with them and ended up crying poverty and offered to come back for the brakes when I had more money before he would concede that they brakes were actually okay to pass inspection but would need replacement soon. My experience was that once they put your car up on the rack, they essentially try to wear you down and sell you things you do not need or want. And the wheel rebalancing was more expensive than I was quoted on the phone which I said to the junior guy who I spoke to on the phone and who was taking my money; but he only looked at me and said he knows. I will never go back. It was a classic negative auto repair story that one would only expect when your car breaks down hundred of miles from home in some remote rural area where the chief of police is the county judge and the mayor... but here it is right in the middle of Manhattan! BEWARE!
