Rob at Double R explains everything patiently, gives reliable advice and suggests other alternatives to his shop when it makes sense (e.g., when to go to a dealer and how to approach them)or he identifies a problem better handled somewhere else. Competent, honest and fair. The referral came from another woman; it's a relief to deal with someone trustworthy who treats you with respect.

After multiple trips to two other established shops (for a problem that left me stranded several times) Rob diagnosed the problem correctly from my description, fixed it promptly, and saved me from getting rid of the car years before I needed to.

We trust Rob and Double R so much that once when we thought about moving, we couldn't imagine leaving Double R. We have brought our cars to Rob for decades. Everyone we have introduced to Double R has had similarly positive experiences.

Been using Rob for years. Will take an emergency on short notice, is quick, pleasant and always does a good job. He recommended a Camry after working on our pain in the neck 95 Taurus and I felt bad since I don't see him much other than routine maintainance because the Camry's so reliable. Now he recommended a Civic to replace the Mazda which he must know means I'll probably see him even less.

I have been working on my own vehicles for better than 40 years and only go to a mechanic when I can't figure out a problem or don't have the time to do the job. I am also very critical of the quality of repairs or diagnosis done by someone else. Rob's diagnosis and work have exceeded my expectations every time I have had my vehicles to him. The sophistication of vehicles nowadays demands proper diagnosis or can cost a fortune and lots of aggravation. These guys really know what they are doing. I send everyone I know to them. They are the best I have ever dealt with by far.

Rob of Double R is the most honest and direct person, who takes the time to explain not only repairs he's making for you, but points out any problems he anticipates coming up. Once he clued me in on an "unofficial" factory recall problem (blown headgasket on a Toyota 4 runner) which the dealer wasn't sharing, and which got me a $1600 refund from Toyota. Couldn't answer the Q about what happens when there's a screwup because there hasn't been one. Never asked about guarantees either, again, - it has never occurred to me to ask because he does what he says--- and explains when there may be other issues. He answers the phone, calls back if he says he's going to, and give solid advice. Repairs in this neck of the woods aren't inexpensive, but his prices are fair -- and unlike some dealer shops, he's honest and never condescending. Someone you can depend on!

Rob at Double R in Briarcliff Manor, NY is terrific! I highly recommend this shop especially for someone like me who knows nothing about what's under the hood. I finally found a mechanic I can trust. My car broke down on 87N with a flat tire and was towed to another shop in Westchester. That shop wanted $1000 to fix cracked springs and bushings which they claimed caused the tire to blow. I received a second opinion from Double R, and my car checked out just fine with no problems, and I saved a bundle. Thank you Double R!

I have been taking my cars to Rob for more than 20 years, and in that time, I have never had a problem with his work, nor have I ever heard of anyone else who had a problem. I've always believed that if you find a mechanic you trust, and he moves, you move with him. Luckily, Rob hasn't moved.
