Bought a '91 Ford Explorer with 39k miles. It got 18 MPG. Took it to Rick after nearly a year for a tune up. After tune up it got 22 MPG. I was impressed. Took it in on a Saturday (when no one else would take me) because of a bad vibration/shudder in drive train. 1-1/2 hrs later I drovw out with new U-joints and no vibration. Took it back for AC service. He explained that he would charge the system and search for leaks. It might not be cost-effective to repair, but the charge might last all summer. It wasn't ($400) and it did! Took car in for state inspection at 9am. They called in early afternmoon to say car was done -- but if I didn't need it right away, they'd like to keep it to try out a new diagnostic tool they had just acquired. After a couple more phone calls, they delivered the car at 8:30 pm saying "Thanks, we learned a whole lot today and your car's in great shape!" Seems they just bought a $30,000 Sumitech (sp?) diagnostic system and wanted to gain lots of experience before they put it into service. There's also about 20 framed certificates on the wall from courses and workshops Rick has taken. He's serious! So's his wife Lisa. She maintains their website and keeps in touch with a few thousand techs nationwide to trade mechanic's tricks. I feel I'm in good hands.

These guys just bend over backwards to help you out. I've taken my '77 Pontiac Bonneville to them, 88 Jetta, 88 Golf, and 95 Jetta for various things and all have been done very well. The biggest thing is that Rick's influence guides the other mechanics. They ALL take the time to really explain what they want to do, why it should be done, and what the reasonable alternatives are. And as far as the gender angle goes, Rick's wife, Lisa, works there too so she is very often the primary customer interface. Their phone is 518-885-0880

Rick is a first rate mechanic. His up front staff (Mike and Rick's wife, Lisa) are great. Very knowledgeable and patient when explaining problems, costs, options, etc. When we've had any problems with repairs made by one of the staff mechanics, Rick has personally made things right in a very timely manner. My wife and daughter have both been treated with respect and patience. Overall, I recommend this business highly.
