The owner is the service writer cum manager. I call him Tom Terrific. I had been having starter problems for six or eight months. Intermittently, the solenoid would thunk but wouldn't engage the gears. Every so often, I would give up and push it out of the garage or roll it downhill at the parking lot at work. I'm a teacher and they make me take two weeks off at this time of year. A great time to finally replace the starter (for something like $385). I called Tom at 7:40 New Yaers' Eve morning and took the '91 Honda (104,000 mi) in right away. Naturally, I planned for likely event that they would have it over the holiday. Tom called at 11:30 and I picked the car up at 1:30. Oh, the bill? It was $125.45. Only the starter contacts needed to be replaced. If Tom were buying a boat, wouldn't he have charged me for a starter? That's why I would never take my Honda anywhere else. Bill

My first and only experience with these guys was very positive. I'm hypersensitive to repair shops that do lousy and dishonest work due to past experience over the years. I was replacing my timing belt and water pump on my 1989 Honda Civic. I ran into a snag when I couldn't remove the crankshaft pulley, because some ape had over-tightened the bolt. I had the car towed to their shop with pieces in the back seat. They made the repair in a timely fashion and I feel the price was very fair. I was also very pleased that they made no issues that I had supplied them with my own parts. In addition, when I picked my car up, I walked into their shop and noticed how organized and clean they kept the place. No question, I will use these guys in the future when ever I am faced with a repair project I can't do my self.

A great shop. Wish they would work on other makes of vehicles too, but understand their 'speciality' and desire to stay certified in what they service/repair. I have a Honda, a Toyota, a Subaru, and a Volvo. 2 out of 4 ain't bad. My mother-in-law lives in Sacramento and once she had her Honda serviced here, she refused to have any major work done by anyone else, making the trip over Donner Summit just to get her car serviced/repaired. Tom is a great and honest owner, fair, and a good sense of humor. The address (for your listing) is 1705 Greg St. Sparks, Nv.

Preferred has been taking care of three Toyotas and a Honda for me for about 5 years. All are medium to high mileage vehicles that get a lot of use and, with regular maintainance from Preferred Auto, I seldom have any problems. I think their prices are fair, their service excelent and timely. It's the perfect garage.

Very easy to work with and very honest - Tom talked with through the whole process and even deducted his labor cost on one aspect of the repair since I was already at a high cost repair. Also, they described everything that they were doing in terms I could understand and answered all my questions.
