Mike's shop, which does not have an "Official" name that I am aware of, specializes in Subarus. He was recommended by a friend. The first time I went to his shop for a minor repair, which he corrected immediately, I asked him how much I owed him. His response, "Give me $5.00"!! I was sold and amazed to find someone who treated a small repair just like that, and who was not glued to his price book for .3 hours of work. Mike's shop is the kind of place where you can go and feel conmpletely at ease with the knowledge that your car is in good hands. He has just moved to a new location, with a larger work area. He is a great car analyst, and completely honest. When I went to him with a noise in my car that I suspected would cost me a fortune, he diagnosed it as a loose nut on one of my wheels, which he tightened at no cost. What a guy!!

When I had my baby (who is going to college next year) Mike would drive over and pick up the car for repair! He is knowledgeable, kind and hard working. Now that he is only working on Subarus I miss him.

When I first went to Mike I had a newborn baby (who is now 19). Mike would pick up my car at my house (leaving his) and then deliver it back to me repaired!!!! At one point he even traded me (I taught his kids art) for repairs. He is kind, honest and hardworking. It has been a pleasure to see his shop grow from a tiny home garage to the gleaming facility it is now.

As a poor student driving an 88 GL wagon (a Subaru beater) after 2000, I had several chances to have repairs done to my car. I didn't know anything about it and was an easy mark for dishonest mechanics. A friend (also a poor student in a Subaru) told me about Mike, and I can't thank them enough! I'm sure that I've had over $1000 in repairs there. That may not sound like much, but I've always felt like they under-charged me for services. More than once I had something minor taken care of or looked at, only to have money refused by them! Also more than once, I've felt safe just leaving the car with him and saying "do whatever you need to, I'll pay it", fully trusting that it'll be reasonable. I've never been let down on that. Now, as a less poor student driving a newer Subaru who knows more about cars, Mike is the only person I want to leave my keys with. Being in Socorro (2 hours south on Santa Fe) means that sometimes I end up somewhere else, but the service is never as good. I would recommend Mike's Garage to anyone with a Subaru. I marked myself as a "Biased Customer", not because I have any relationship with Mike, but because of the wonderful experience I've had with them.

I've had my very old Legacy worked on by Mike's a couple of times, and they have always done the work quickly, correctly, and for a reasonable price. What more can you ask for? Highly recommended.

I've taken my 1990 Legacy wagon to Mike for over 10 years now. I've always felt he was watching out for me, and he managed to keep the car running well at very reasonable prices. Last week when the old computer gave out and the engine started running rough, he replaced the computer with a used one for less than $200, including labor. At 185,000 miles I don't have long term hope for the transmission on this car, but I trust Mike to keep it going as long as possible with the least amount of pain to my wallet....

If soemething in my 95 Legacy seems weird, Mike and his staff will always take the time to listen to it, drive it or check it out, which is always a huge relief. They are honest and dependable and I always feel they are looking out for me. I only wish they weren't so popular -it can take time to get an appointment!!!

Mike's prices are one-third to one-half of the cost at the Subaru dealer in town. Plus, if it ain't broke, Mike won't fix it--when my starter began making horrible grinding noises intermittently, Mike said, "They all do it. When it does it all the time, bring it in and we'll replace it." A year and a half later, I haven't had to have it replaced yet! I'm out of town right now, my car needs a small problem fixed, and I was contemplating driving many hours back to Santa Fe to get it fixed (until I found a shop 1 mile from where I'm staying, recommended by your readers).
