Simply, I dig Gilman's. They're competent and affordable. In this town, where the price of everything seems jacked to the ceiling, Gilman's $45/hour tag is pretty refreshing. I have had wheel bearings replaced, a tune-up, exhaust work, and my electrical system checked by them. Each time, I've been happy with the service and not scared by the overall impact on my wallet. Also, Shane, who works the front desk, is always a blast to deal with. Very personable and quick to help. As I said, I dig Gilman's.

I actually enjoy my mechanic and his shop. First, it's only $45/hr. for labor (pretty pissa for saab work). Second, it's just a laid back crowd, there. My dog got bitten by a coyote recently, and the folks and Gilman's remembered, asking about her on my next visit. Not that folks necessarily are looking for that in a mechanic, but when they do good work and a good price AND are nice all-'round folks, that's a damn good package. By the way, didn't answer the question above re whether they're quick to fix something they screwed up: just haven't had the experience.
