The office of Rising Sun is kept amazingly clean. It is more doctor's office than garage complete with nearly current magazines. Personal photographs and hand-picked auto related cartoons hang in the office. In the garage, instead of girlie posters, a giant, inflatable Godzilla hovers over the work space. This single mechanic operation is first class in all the intangibles. John keeps records of each customer's car neatly filed in office filing cabinets. John is often backed up and will recommend another mechanic to do the work if you do not want to wait two weeks for an appointment. And the repairs and prices, ah the most important things, are seemingly right on.

I have a 1988 Civic that I would like to keep forever...if possible. John specializes in keeping elderly Honda's alive. On my first visit he made it clear that I had to make an effort too...ie. checking the oil regularly and keeping a record that he could look at each visit. As a female car owner for over 30 years I have had my share of patronizing male mechanics...John ranks up at the top of my list for politeness and the ability to translate my ignorant car babble into understandable mechanics speak.

John is a great car mechanic. He is almost a teacher and will describe at length what is wrong and what must be done to fix it. He anticipates problems with your car, tells you the warning signs and almost always gets it right. He is very particular about his shop, his work and the parts he uses (genuine Honda parts only). He also accomodates emergencies. Finding such mechanics is rare.

Jon is like a Car Doctor. He treats all the cars he handles with special care and precision. I had to move, and one of the hardest parts of moving was having to leave Jon as a mechanic. He is always fair, makes sure to show you exactly where all your money goes, and is very patient and willing to eplain anything. My family and friends all go to him, but he is in high demand, having very loyal customers. I have come to trust him blindly. He always does high quality work, I always feel secure in my car after he works on it, and I never feel cheated. I can't reccomend Jon enough.

In short, John is a great mechanic and a really great human being. His shop is orderly, clean, and a very interesting place to visit! He fixes our old, tired Honda with the greatest of ease and kindness. He exemplifies the epitome of automotive professionalism and I would recommend ANY Honda owner to him.

I only lived nearby for a year, so didn't really get to come here often; all the experiences I had were excellent. I highly recommend Rising Sun.
