When we moved to this town 14 years ago, I chose Baird's because they were within walking distance of the house we owned then--not a very mechanically sound reason. But I stumbled upon a terrific mechanic in Billy Baird and his shop. Billy has taken care of all our cars, from very used to brand new, and I recommend him highly. In fact, the only reason I believe he is not already on this site is that people don't want to make him so busy that he can't take care of his regular customers. Here is one example: My husband's old truck had 260,000 miles on it when we sold it. From about 80,000 miles on, my husband kept asking, "Do you think this clutch is OK?" He made it for 260,000 miles on the original clutch, and Baird's kept assuring us that it was fine and holding up well. They always warn us about upcoming maintenance so that we can budget for it.

Although I am a snowbird spending only winters in Las Cruces, I try to postpone any work on my car until I'm there. I haven't found anyone in Omaha I feel as comfortable about.
