I like McLaughlin's. I just wish I didn't have 2 POS cars that need so much work. I brought my 99 Mercury in a few months ago. The heater core is almost shot. John did some diagnostic work, which alleviated the problem.

In addition to 'normal' work he has done on the 4 or 5 cars I have brought to him, John has also helped me with response to the occasional breakdown/ emergency or request for information. The person who wrote about the 'relationship' part is correct. After 15 plus years of going there, I wouldn't think about going to some of these chain shops .

I have four cars (unfortunately for me) and Mcloughlins has worked on three of them, The fourth is new, under factory warranty. John is the mechanic, Jodi (John's sister) manages the repair facility and Jimmy the founder of the business overseas everything. They are very honest and will tell you if they can't diagnose or repair a problem because of not having the very expensive diagnostic equipment for that particular vehicle. On my 1998 Ford Explorer AWD the check engine light was on for a long time. I brought it to John and after two attempts he said "take it to Ford". I took the car to Mercury ( I doubt the local Ford dealers honesty and quality) where they diagnosed the problem as a defective catalytic converter and replaced it for free under the terms of the warranty. The car had 78,000 miles at the time; the warranty lasted until 80,000 miles. Johns honesty allowed me to save approximately $1500.00, the charge the Mercury dealer said the catalytic converter cost to repair. Many years ago I was an auto mechanics instructor for a large urban school system. I know I can determine when a repair facility is being honest and they are doing quality work. Mcloughlin's is one of the few that are both.

THEY ARE A FAMILY OWNED AND OPERATED BUSINESS... AND THEY TREAT EVERYONE LIKE FAMILY...

They've told me when something can wait to get fixed, which saves a lot of money on an older car. With regular oil changes over the last 14 years they've kept my truck running and I can't ask for more.
