They solved a performance issue with my 94 Golf that the dealer charged me $600 to tell me that they could not find a problem. Phil's mechanics found the problem in one morning and the problem was solved. They pointed out several other issues that may develop into problems. They have loaner cars and all of their employees are great people. Would recommend them to anyone needing repairs on a foreign car.

Phil and his wife are a pleasure to deal with. I happened upon them when they had a nice old 240 5-speed for sale. Phil is definitely entertaining and honest - originally a Volkswagon shop though he's become a bit disheartened with VW quality in recent years and specializes in European cars as a whole now. They have done great work on our cars and have always thrown in little freebies like adjusting windshield wipers or wiper fluid nozzles. I would recommend anyone try out that shop in Northern Jersey - definitely worth stopping by . The website www.philscars.com also has additional stories upholding their honesty and abilities vs dealerships. Our second 240 (an automatic wagon) had been supposedly rigorously serviced by a dealership prior to our buying it (complete with service records) but we had trouble with it until we found Phil - since then it's only needed annual tune-ups.
