I have had no problems with them working on something until it is fixed (my driver window track has been a nightmare for them; they have had the door open about 10 times and charged me twice; once for a re-glue and later for a broken track replacement).

My wife and I recently moved to Saint Paul, MN and came to the Car Talk website to find a recommended mechanic. While doing so, we found the ones recommended didn't match the total value package of what we experienced with American Tire and Auto in NJ. Things that we liked that caused us to use them time and time again are the following: - They fix things that other mechanics could not figure out. - They have a large staff of mechanics that enable them to be well qualified on many different cars and on many different problems. - Having a large staff means work can be completed timely. As working professionals who needed our cars Mon - Friday, we were always confident we'd get our car fixed on the busy Saturday. - Their skillset rivals going to the dealer but at a much reduced cost. - Their part pricing is less than the dealers'. - They fix only what needs to be fixed and help identify what work is not necessary. - They have always been courteous, never making my wife or I feel stupid.
