Bob's just a big sweetie-head and is always honest and up- front about what's wrong. The first mechanic I've ever had who I trust completely not to rip me off... When I needed some bodywork done, he referred me to a place in Newmarket that did the job for a great great price (only $2 over Bob's estimate). Usually his final bills come to less than his estimates. His staff is also really great, very helpful, friendly, and competent.

Tells me if I do not need certain repairs. Has often given free repairs on small items. I have taken him Ford Pickups, Hondas (2), Subaru, and Dodge Caravan. He has welded parts (fabrication) and seems to be able to fix anything. He has also told me when to give up on a vehicle and get another one. I tend to drive my cars until they drop. This guy is great. By the way he also collects CocaCola stuff and has a show car tricked out in this color/logo. I wanted to keep him a secret but the world should know he is one of the last great mechanics on the planet.

This is the mechanic dads would feel comfortable sending their daughters to. Always honest, courteous, and reasonably priced, and often go above and beyond what is expected from most shops these days. Just great, old-school mechanics. I love them!

This is a long-distance recommendation from a guy who, for almost 20 years (when my family lived in NH), depended on Bob's skills to keep my cars on the road. I ran across his listing on the Cartalk website and I just wanted to add my name to those who think Bob Garland is a terrific mechanic. I know little or nothing about how cars work and Bob always did his work quickly and correctly and never over-charged. It's nice to see that he is still in business and that his customers still appreciate his work.

Bob and his staff have taken care of me and my car many times. They're always a delight. I leave feeling like I should bake them cookies - someday I'll actually do it.

Garlands is the kind of garage I wish I had four years, and approx $4,000 ago!!! All the work my husband and I have had done have always been very reasonable and they've only ever charged for things that they were able to fix. When I went in to get a wheel baring fixed, they noticed one of my tires was in rough shape and roated it for free so I could safely get to a place where I could get new tires (they said they could do my tires however reccomened a place where I could get it done cheaper and faster). They work wonders and have made customers for life in my husband and myself! I highly reccomend this garage to anyone!

All the other reviews are on the money. Usually the final price is less than the estimate, and the work is done when they say it is. One con: They don't call when the work is finished, but I usually want me car, so I call them. Great, honest mechanics.

I have a 1973 GMC pickup and without Bob this blue bomber would've ended up being a big frustration for me. When something acts up on it he fixes it (for usually less money than he estimated) and then gives me a "to do sometime in the future list" for issues that he foresees could become a problem down the road. I am convinced that other mechanics would've given me a "must do" list and told me a crazy tale of how I HAD to get such-and-such done RIGHT AWAY. But Bob knows that I'm not a classic car mechanic and that I'm not a person who spends all weekend polishing the chrome bumber or degreasing the engine for a car show, so we only do what needs to be done to keep it running and safe. Thanks, Bob and the rest of the gang at Garland's! I worry about the day Bob retires and I lose the best mechanic I ever had!

Bob is classic old-school upfront honest about what he can and will do, and what work was done. If Bob tells you your car needs something, it does. Not a whiff of greed or dishonesty, I have been using Bob's garage for over 25 years, and have never heard one person say an unkind thing about their experience at Garlands. Great mechanics, simple down-to-earth atmosphere, you can tell this man loves his work.
