Check engine light came on 20 miles away. We were over 150 miles about home. Drove in at noon, all mechanics at lunch, but a mechanic put it on computer right away (even though on lunch)and they explained problem -- distributer failing. Said they could repair by 2 PM if part(s) in stock and possibly by end of day if had to obtain from outside. It was finished and we were on our way before 2PM

My 95 civic was intermittantly overheating. I brought it to the local dealer to find out what the problem was. They told me my radiator was fine, but the head gasket was blown, but would not replace it. They would only do a complete engine tear-down and rebuild! Cost estimate was almost $2000. I brought my car to a radiator shop, and they "showed" me that the radiator was the problem. Got it replaced for anout $200. I'm not sure if the dealer mechanics were incompetant or crooked. I'll never go back.

Gerrish Honda was the only shop I found in the area that knew exactly what to do when my speedometer/odometer failed, and I've stuck with them ever since. The folks are friendly and competent. They do not recommend unnecessary service, and they have a loyal customer base. They will also recommend other options if I need a service they do not provide (e.g., body work). If some of their charges are higher than others might charge (and I haven't checked around much, but the oil changes are reasonable), at least I know that the work is competent and brand-specific, and the parts reliable. My 1992 Honda Civic 5-speed is still running strong. Public transportation is spotty in this area, but Gerrish does provide loaner cars on request.

The Gerrish service department is always very professional. Like their sales department, the service department is filled with long-time, well-trained employees who we recognize each time we have regular service done.

Gerrish Honda overboard to fix my old car quickly, and time is money during car repairs. Combined 120,000 mile maintenance program with other work to save $$. Bid was $900.00 minimum, total came to only $792 for a lot of work, including timing belt, water pump, belts, fluids, tune-up, fix e-brake, check everything, and they were ready in 3 hours. They didn't replace things that weren't needed and set me up for future work. I was impressed. Went to them because someone else on this CarTalk site recommended.

Not a particularly friendly bunch. The work they do is OK, but expensive.

I've dealt with Gerrish Honda sales and service departments since buying my very first car. That car lasted 17 years and was in great shape. I purchased a new Honda Element from them in 2003. In all my years of dealing with Gerrish Honda I've never been disappointed. They are honest, friendly, treat customers respectfully and with attention to their concerns; they also go out of their way to do the "extra thing" in explaining/clarifying nature of problems and whatever the needs to fix them. I've driven in on a Saturday morning with a sudden mechanical concern while on the road (and no appointment) and they've taken the time to either fix it (depending on urgency)right then OR advise nature of concern and make an appointment for later in week if that was a better option. They also appreciate a good sense of humor from customers and respond in kind when dealing with them. I have only the highest compliments for this dealership and would recommend it without reservation to anyone shopping for a new or used Honda.
