Tom is a fantastic mechanic and a great guy, I love the fact that as a woman I have a mechanic I can go to without ever getting jerked around. Even better, when I go in with my husband, Tom will still explain the problems to me instead of just automatically talking to my husband. I have been going to him for years and his estimates are always solid and if the cost is any higher than the quote (which is rare) he always calls and explains why before he makes any repairs. Absolutely five stars!

Tom and his crew are a great and, more importantly, trustworthy guys. They will tell you anything and everything you need to know and also if you can fix it yourself (and give you tips on how to do so). They are great with customer service in general. They are one of the rarest things you can find, an honest garage all- around. My father has been going to them for years and suggested them to me. I like to tinker and he has always told me if it is worth fixing something or not. The only problem that has arisen is an understandable one, LONG WAITING LIST. This is due to the fact that they are SO GOOD. I thank him for everything he has done for my family and I. In this world of high vehicle costs (you would think that GW could bring down the gas prices after watching him strolling through the flowers with Abdullah, holding hands none the less, but i digress) he is a breath of fresh air for anyone on a fixed income/ budget.

I called Tom about my '92 Toyota Camry's weird squeaky suspension problem one afternoon. He told me to come on down and we'd take a ride. He had me bring my car right into the garage, despite the fact that he was eating his lunch, took out a wrench, tightened a bolt on the upper strut mount, and then we took a ride around the block. Ta- da, problem solved. And no charge!! He is an honest, reliable kinda guy. I will never bring my car anywhere else as long as I am in Keene.

The thing that first impressed me when I took my Toyota in for a mystery problem was that Tom looked for the cheapest potential causes first, instead of assuming it was the seemingly more obvious, but expensive, issue. Turned out the problem was really very simple. Tom did the job plus another small thing he noticed for a whopping $30! He is very nice on the phone and in person, asks thorough questions, and gives honest and complete answers. The shop is small and doesn't provide every service, but I'll always go there first.

I'm new in the state, and I made the mistake of visiting 2 other mechanics (closer to home) before I got frustrated and remembered I should have checked the Car Talk website first! After two expensive repair jobs, my car was driving worse than it ever had, and I was afraid to go back to either of the shops who'd worked on it. I found the glowing reviews of Tom's, and decided to check it out. Tom's definitely met my expectations. From the first incredibly polite phone call, to the perhaps too reasonable bill at the end of the repairs, I was impressed. (Tom says, "I don't think people should have to pay for their car twice," but I wonder if he's even making any money. He charged me literally half of what I was quoted by another mechanic to replace my cracked exhaust manifold!) I am sold, and I will continue to travel 45 minutes to Tom's for all my auto service needs. It's just such a relief to find an honest mechanic (and yes, I am a woman, and yes he treated me with great respect anyway :-). Thanks, Tom! ~ruth

I just took my car into Tom's Auto for the first time after reading their great reviews on this site, and I must say, all of the reviews were spot on. Not only is Tom a nice guy, but he is also VERY honest. I brought in my car to get the valve cover gasket replaced, and a full tune-up based on the recommendations of another auto shop. Tom told me that I wouldn't need any of this done, and that the problem wasn't major enough to fix now. He saved me $450. I don't know too many mechanics honest enough to talk themselves out of business in order to save his customers from unnecessary work. The only negative thing is you might have to wait to get an appointment, but it is worth the wait. The fact that he doesn't advertise and has that long of a wait time is a testament to the quality and integrity of his work and to the satisfaction of his customers. He just gained a customer for life and I will send all of my friends and family to him.

Very kind and reassuring to frazzled young mother. Price was 1/2 of Midas for brake-work. Made accommodations to meet an inspection deadline and the customer's schedule.

Probably the best auto mechanic I've ever done business with. Everyone is treated with respect, including his employees. I trust him.
