Charlie's been taking care of our cars for 12 yrs now. He does all our stuff; he explains what he will do, he gives me a ride home when needed, and best of all: he tells you when a repair IS NOT NECESSARY! He will tell you to wait for another couple of months if something is not truly urgent. When we were looking to buy a new car, we brought him two possible used cars to check out. We would have been happy to pay him for his time, but he did it for free. His argument was that we were valued customers, and at the same time he ensured that we will bring him all of our cars for maintenance and whatever else is wrong with them until we are too old to drive or he retires. On top of that, he's got a - and I hesitate to say this - "pretty" shop. No oil stains, no nudie calendars, no icky smell - a woodpaneled shop that looks like someone's dream of a man cave with a slight - gasp! - cinnamon smell. I don't know whether he did it to attract female customers or whether he is naturally clean, organized and good-smelling, but as a woman, I don't feel like I am entering a testerone-soaked gladiator den, but rather someone's BUSINESS. If you are looking for an honest mechanic in Goldsboro, he's your man!
