I have take multpile cars to Lonnie and his crew, as well as recommended them to friends. They don't push unncessary repairs. They stand by their work. They'll also help you out, even if there's no tangible profit for them. They give you the neccessary information to make an informed decision. For those of us who tend to be absent-minded, they're also good about bringing little things to your attention, such as expired plates or inspection stickers. And they price their work in real-time hours, as opposed some mechanics who charge the approximate hours listed in repair books.

Lonnie specializes in VWs and has been recommended to me by many folks in the Triangle. He's extremely competent (at least 15 years experience) and honest.

Lonnie is just an outstanding mechanic and he does just about everything but body work. He saved me money on several repairs simply by giving unbiased advice. He understands that students are often operating on a budget. Some of the mechanics who work for him worked for dealerships in the past and have their own specialties. He has a lot of customers, and with good reason.

Lonnie is very honest! When I thought my whole clutch went, it turned out to be only a $100 repair! You can't beat that!

We have taken both of our Hondas (93 and 02 Civics) to Lonnie's for repairs for various things, both emergency and maintenance. Each time, they've been WONDERFUL. Friendly, helpful, honest, and reasonable about the price. Right before we moved, some widget in the car blew out (Heater Blower Motor Resistor or somesuch) and as a result, we had no climate control in the car. They figured it out, went way above and beyond to try to find the part, couldn't, so ordered it, and got it in as quickly as they could, and put it in for less than they had estimated (and less than prices estimated online). We're now across the country, and have to find a new mechanic, but I HIGHLY recommend Lonnie's, and hope we get as lucky with our mechanic out here.

The team at Lonnie's was very friendly, honest, and took the time to answer all of our questions. They repaired our car promptly and were able to save us some money relative to the estimate. We're new to the area and this was our first unanticipated car issue. They made a great first impression.

I was a long-time customer of Lonnie's until June, 2011, when I was charged over $100 more than the estimate given to replace a starter. When I saw the charge of $307, I asked for an explanation. I was told that the person who gave me the estimate quoted the cost of the part ($171) without labor. I pointed out that estimates always include labor. I was given crazy excuses, including that the person who did the estimate is new, only part-time, not trained, and has a heart condition. I felt I was expected to feel guilty. I expressed sympathy, but asked if anything could be done to lower the cost. I was told no. I paid in full and emailed Lonnie a complaint via the company website. After 10 years of being a good customer, I deserved an apology. I never even received a reply. I do not know how to deal with mechanics who make such excuses and then hide from me. So, I decided not to any more.
