Ray caught me on the rebound from a bad encounter with a Mazda dealer repair shop. I was suspicious of the extent and even the necessity of the recommended repairs. The car was cutting off, and the fix involved a part the size of a matchbook which cost $250 before labor. Ray looked at the car the next day and called me several times to discuss what he found. He was forthright and honest, and he seemed keenly aware of my budget. In the end, I agreed to all repairs and he completed the job in a day. The repairs were extensive and he threw in the timing belt for $40 while he had the engine torn down. I was very pleased with the entire experience. By the way, this shop came recommended by a Middle Eastern friend of mine. My friend watches his bottom line and bargains with the best of them. When he recommended RBM, I knew I was on the right track!

Raymond replaced my 91 Protege timing belt and water pump for very reasonable price, around $300. I was so impressed with his quality work, honesty, and reasonable price, that I took in my 91 Mitsubishi Mirage for valve job and transmission rebuild. Again, very reasonable price, for less than $2000. These are complicated repairs that he did right the first time.

Raymond at RBM Automotive has worked on my 97 Miata, 99 Miata, and my 2002 Hyundai for the last five years. Always charges a very reasonable amount and gets the work done in a timely manner. I was once told that Miata needed $500 worth of brake work by a pretty reputable mechanic in Charlotte. I took it to Raymond; he did the work for less than half of that.

Ray was great! I went to his shop based on the reviews I found on this site. He replaced my timing belt and water pump for $50 less than what the dealer would have charged just to replace the timing belt. I also showed him a list of items the dealer said I needed to have done on my car. He went through each one and explained why I didn't even need the work. He said my car was well taken care of. The day after he did the repairs I discovered a problem with my car. I called and left a message since it was the weekend but first thing Monday morning he called back, picked up the car, fixed the issue, apologized, then brought it back and parked it in my garage. I really appreciate his honesty, which is hard to find when you're a female trying to get work done on a car. I definitely recommend this shop!

Raymond was very friendly and finished the job quickly and at a lower price than other mechanics charged. When I asked if he had a preferred cab company to use to give me a ride back home, Ray took time to drive me and would not accept a tip for his time and effort. I had been having car trouble for a little while, and I took my car to more than one mechanic before Raymond. Whatever he did differently, he fixed my car right, faster and for less than other shops.

RBM is the only mechanic to have worked on my '97 Miata. They have never made an unnecessary repair. On many occasions they have told me that work I thought needed done was not needed. They have often made a minor repair or installed a used part at no charge since it only took minutes.

Ray is a fantastic mechanic. He's extremely competent and honest, and has done great work on my little Mazda multiple times. I'm a young(ish) woman, so I tend to be suspect of automotive places, but Ray always takes the time to explain everything he's doing, and everything that's going on with my car so I feel comfortable. In fact, on my most recent trip (after another shop I went to quickly to get an oil change told me I needed a new serpentine belt), Ray stayed open late on a Friday so I could swing by, and he showed me the belt, showed me how he was inspecting it, and assured me that mine was more than fine. Great guy, great shop.

Owner Raymond Mullis and his assistant Russell were so helpful when I was trying to select a reasonably priced used car for my grandson's first vehicle. They immediately picked up on the fact that the first Honda we brought in to be checked on had been wrecked. They pulled all four wheels and thoroughly checked the car. When I asked Raymond (not "Ray") if he would buy that car for his son, he said, "Absolutely not." Later the same day we brought another Honda, a Civic, to RBM, Raymond gave it another thorough going over and pronounced it a fine car and, yes, he would buy it for his son. We bought that car the same day. Raymond wanted no money for the first inspection, but I made him take cash. It was, after all, his time and expertise involved that saved us lots of money and eventual heartache with the first car. These guys are great!!
