I was in Cleveland, MS along with all my in-laws for the funeral of my wife's grandmother. When we were about to leave town for the long drive home, one of the cars in our caravan broke down (the serpentine belt basically fell off). We were in the immediate vicinity of Lance's Automotive, so we brought the car there. We told him our situation and he immediately started working for us. He found the cause of the problem (a damaged bearing) and drove off to pick up the part for us. He came back, put everything together, and then sent us off without letting us pay him. He said we'd been through enough already. While he can't offer free service to everyone, I think this one action proves that he is not out to rip anybody off, and he will be fair and honest with you.

When my son took his 87 Isuzu Trooper II in for some front end noise, Lance could have diagnosed anything & charged for it. Instead, he said go get some WD-40 & spray it on the belts, then sent my boy home. It worked. Another time there was an uneven noise from the exhaust end of my horrible 17 year old kid's Isuzu and Lance, instead of saying replace headers, redo timing, change timing belt...told him the muffler was getting old. A good guy. (Your show today, the teenager crashing the Dart...yes they are awful, really awful.)

I have been living in Cleveland for 4 years and regret just now having discovered this shop--I give my thanks to this site. This place is just as previously described. Honest! I had a strange sound coming from the left front of my car, and had taken it to another shop. After two visits, brake pad replacement, and many pricey suggestions that did not fit the sound, I decided I needed to go somewhere else. I came to Lance's for a second opinion, and he took me for a drive to see if we could both hear it... of course, this would be the time for my car to have stage fright! No sounds. So, he took it in the shop, and put it in the lift. He checked every part, talked me through his observations, and decided it was not what the other mechanic was wanting to charge me for--even physically showed me why...that part was in great condition! He said he honestly could not find a culprit, but to bring it back if the noise reappears. He described a whole bunch of potential reasons they could be happening, and coached me on what other factors (like was it raining, does it happen when turning, etc.) to note should it reappear in order to help him in his diagnosis. This is a busy shop, but he took so much time to assure me that he felt the car was in safe driving condition, and that there was no evidence to suggest I needed a repair. Mechanics like this are hard to find! He has won my business for sure.
