The first time I took my 91 Honda Civic to Cars R Us, they gave me an estimate which was about 100 dollars higher than the lowest estimate. But the guy who gave me the real low estimate was way out in East Bumblebutt. I fussed at the Cars R Us folks and told them that they were trying to gouge me because I was a woman. (When you drive a 91 Honda Civic with 275,000 miles on it, you learn how to handle mechanics.) So I had the proprietor at Cars R Us call East B. Once he heard the much lower estimate, the shop did the work for the lower price. The owner drove me home, drove me back to get my car, apologized a million times, and asked me to please consider them in the future. I always go there, now. They always give me a GREAT price. I know because I still get three or four quotes. (See, mechanics are like alcoholics--reformed but never cured.) The guys at the shop will work with you if you don't have a lot of money or, in my case, they know you'll be back in a month or so. And, they actually do the work. They only fix what is broken. And nothing new is broken when you leave. They let you know if something else will go out soon. The shop is clean. The guys are nice. No matter what size job I have had them do, I'm always in and out in a couple hours. I have replaced almost everything under my hood, and I've been in shops from Atlanta to Reno, Nevada. This is, overall, the best shop I have ever had the privilege of rolling my Honda into.
