I was traveling in a rental car from St. Joseph, Missouri to St. Louis for my niece's wedding. The car rental company shall go unnamed (my mother always told me that if I couldn't say anything nice about someone not to say anything at all). But, right after I rented the car I noticed that one of the dashboard lights was on. I pulled over, checked the manual, and discovered that the tires weren't properly inflated. So I returned to the rental company and explained my situation. I was treated to a lecture by the customer service person who acted as if I was too stupid to understand that air condenses when it is cold and expands when it is warm. She assured me there was no problem as long as the light wasn't blinking. Just the same, I had her check the tires and discovered that one of them was 3 lbs. low on air. She said they couldn't service the tire there, but that it would be safe to drive. I'm sure you all know what happened next. As I was traveling down Highway 70 suddenly the light began to blink. I pulled off that highway and stopped at the first town I came to which also had an office of said rental car company. The customer service rep there was as bad as the first and told me some other company handled tires for them, but refused to give me the name of that other company or to provide me with any documentation from her company to take the car there. Further, she refused to allow me to trade cars. All I kept repeating to these reps was that I needed to get to my niece's wedding and I wanted to make sure the car was safe. But, to no avail. It seems that said company is only interested in obtaining cash infusions from its customers and thinks it is only in the business of providing vehicles to get customers from point A to point B. Of course, they've got it wrong. They're really in the business of renting cars so customers can get from point A to point B "safely." How hard is that? At any rate, I continued down Highway 50 until I happened upon the Warehouse Tire & Muffler-East shop. The manager there is Matt Sanders and a gentleman named Mike helped me. Mike inspected the tires and properly inflated the one that was low -- all for free. I told Matt how much I appreciated his help and he smiled and said matter-of-factly, "That's what we're here for." Thank the Lord for kind folks like Matt and Mike who are willing to help people out so they can safely travel down our highways and by-ways, even if there's no profit in it to them. So here's a happy Shout Out to Matt and Mike: Thank You SO Much! You really saved the day for me. So my recommendation is that if anyone needs tires or tire services in the Sedalia area, be sure to check out the Warehouse Tire & Muffler-East store. You'll be glad you did.
