These guys are great! They're especially good at letting me know when VW is likely to cover a non-warranty repair and send me to the dealer for that--they've done that twice. They are also great at letting me know what REALLY needs to be done on my car (vs. the dealer's always longer list). Their expertise, courtesy, and prices are all in the "excellent" category. They also kept my daughter's beater Mazda running safely for nearly 100,000 miles, and told us just how long we could expect it to last.

They have gone out of their way to fix things the least expensive but effective way (fixing a broken mirror instead of pushing me to buy a new one); they have fixed dumb quick things for free; they treat customers with little to no car repair knowledge with a great deal of respect. I have used them and sent several people there and everyone has had the same experience. They only fix foreign cars--but have referred my husband to a good place to fix his American-made car. Really honest and ethical.

The original owner still owns the facility but now leases to two other mechanics - both very competent. The original owner now has an import auto parts store up the street. I've been going to this garage for over 20 years. They've helped me keep my Rabbit, Volvo, and 5 Toyotas running great.

My VW was having problems with a trunk release, and after getting estimates ranging from half of my mortgage payment, to being told that there was nothing that could be done, Chris over at Metric came out of the shop and worked on my trunk in the parking lot and had my trunk release up and running in no time. Not only was it great service, but dedicated workmanship. Over the the that I was there, he gladly assisted another customer with equal pleasantry and in a very professional manner. I plan on bringing all of my cars into their competent hands.

I wasn't thrilled when Metric Auto moved from central St. Paul to Woodbury, but it is so valuable to be able to do business with people who are competent, pleasant and reasonably priced that it is totally worth it to make the trip. Knowing my car is in good hands, and that I can trust them to be fair, means a lot to me.

Metric is great. They've worked on 2 or 3 of my cars over the years. They're really good at explaining at what's wrong and the relative importance of getting things fixed now vs. later. They would give me a written estimate, and that was the price, unless they managed to find a part for less. And they always got it right - fixed & with no mysterious new problems. I mostly dealt with Chris & really appreciated that he didn't ever talk down to me cause I'm a woman. It's pretty inconvenient to go out to Woodbury now, though, so I'm bummed. But I will if I can't find anybody that good near me.

Used these guys for some normal repairs on my 2003 Passat. The estimate they gave me was fair and only on the stuff I asked about. In fact, they were $200 less than the estimate. The work was done quickly, and there was no pressure to do more work than what asked for.

Chris and Tom were always great. Very knowledgable, very honest, very good at what they do. If a part needed replacement, they'd show me the old one, explain the problem and why it needed to be replaced. They work exclusively on foreign cars, which always makes me a bit more trusting. Clean shop, prompt service...I've recommended them many times!
