I have a 99 Mazda Protege with 84K miles. The O/D light started flashing and shifting became a little rougher. I took it to Morrie's Mazda and they diagnosed it and told me it needed a new transmission and charged me $117. Morrie's quoted a rebuilt transmission installed for $3500 with 12mo/12k warranty. I took the car to Marv's based on a friend who had transmission work done at Marv's and recommended him unconditionally. Marv test drove and then diagnosed the problem as electrical. He said it was a short, solenoid or computer. It turned out to be the solenoid which was replaced for $280 and now the car runs great. I recommend him highly.
