The first time I went I wasn't sure if I was at the right place, because I didn't see a sign. However, I was, and the guys were really helpful. I'm a blond female college student, and I was not taken advantage of. Awesome mechanics, but real grease monkeys!

We have been taking our 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan to Barney's for about a year. We had become tired of being ripped off by Dodge dealers, and thought their repair prices were outrageously inflated. I guess if you can't make money selling cars, then try gouging people who are too cheap to buy a new car every three to four years. Dan House at Barney's is a great mechanic who will fix a problem when he can, admit when he cannot (and not charge you), and level with you if a problem is not worth fixing. My biggest concern about Barney's is that they do not charge enough for their work, and I worry they will go out of business, and it will be awful finding another mechanic I can trust.

My wife had a window broken out of her Buick Regal and rather than call for the "good steak fairy*" who also happens to install very expensive windshields, she called Barneys Midway. They said sure bring the car in and they would even see if they could find a used part. The insurance company processing the claim , based on the initial estimate and the particulars of my wifes policy, said there would be a minor deductable to be paid by her (and quite reasonable- really) . Barneys sent in the requisite papers to the insurance company to get their payment and we assumed all was done. Some weeks later , however, the insurance company sent my wife her deductable back - Barney's had found a perfectly serviceable used part for well below the expected cost. Business as usual for Barneys Midway. plus - how about adding an option under the "type of Cars worked on for Amercian Cars Only or Foreign Cars Only

We brought in a Ford Ranger with a vacuum leak for a repair. The dealer in Omaha, where we had the problem diagnosed, said repairs would cost around $400. Barney's fixed it for $180, and it only took the three hours that they said it would. Nice work!

I learned about these guys from the MechaniX Files and later found out that 4 other people from my work-place use them. They're great! Just had my brakes done. Contrary to my experience elsewhere, I wasn't sold extra stuff I didn't feel I needed. Just the front brakes, and I knew I needed them done. I mentioned a concerning creaking noise in the back. They could have sold me new springs, struts, etc. Instead he told me the rubber spacer was missing. Totally safe to drive and a bit of grease got rid of the noise. Added cost - $4! I'll use Barney's for any car work I need from now on.

I have taken my 97 Saturn Station Wagon to Barney's Garage for multiple reasons and have recieved exellent, staight- forward, honest, no frills service every time. I have owned a handful of cars and been to more than a handful of mechanics around the twin cities. Barney's Garage is the first mechanic shop I have genuinely trusted. Dan has saved me money and taken great care of my Saturn. I don't think I could find a better mechanic.

I called them because I taken my car into Midas for an oil change and was told I needed a new rear transmission mount. Well, I didn't trust them anyways so I looked around and called up Barneys. The guy told me bring in the car and he will hoist it up and look at no charge. I saw exactly where the mount was and found out although it is a good idea to get it fixed, their is really no rush. They also topped off my coolant and power steering fluids absolutely free- something Midas failed to do! The thing is these guys wern't even bothered by it. I didn't feel like I was being rushed or wasting anyones time, they were geniounly happy to do this stuff and din't make me feel intimidated at all! I'm going back, definitly. I will support their business.
