Dave and Bruce at Sportscar Engineering are fabulous. Dave, the owner, is very patient with all questions and expalins the problem(s) in a level that is appropriate to the car owners comprehension ability. Their work is excellent and they absolutely stand behind the work they do. When an estimate for the work is given upfront and the bill ends up being even a few dollars more they acknowledge the difference and explain why the difference occured. A couple of examples: A few years ago when my wife called in to make an appointment for one of our cars they asked what make the vehicle was, my wife not being observant about anything with an engine answered blue". She gave a few symptoms and they set up an appointment without any indication of disbelief of not knowing the make of the car. Another incident occured when they shorted out the starter. Without any of the typical responses I have heard at dealerships like "it was just a coincidence that it shorted out when we were working on it", Dave had replaced the part by the time I picked up the car and indicated on the bill "Oops Guarantee" and explained the mistake. He also shows the parts that he replaces and shows why replacement is needed. Absolutely the best experience I have had in car repair.

I don't have a lot of experience with this shop, but my first two visits were so positive, I thought it merits a mention. I discovered them after taking my sputtering '91 Toyota Camry to several different shops, including Toyota dealers, and spending several hundred dollars with no results. Dave at Sports Car Engineering listened to my description of the problem and correctly identified and repaired the problem--by replacing the coil. Next visit, while working on another problem, he noticed a missing motor mount bolt, found the right bolt in a shop assortment of old bolts, and promptly fixed it. The shop is neat and clean, and Dave is friendly and seems to care about his work and his customers. He specializes in imports. I noticed Lexus, Volvo, VW, BMW, etc. in the shop.
