Venburg does tires, brakes, suspension, and batteries/alternators (as well as oil changes), but they don't do other engine or body work. Originally I just went there for tires, but then, on a number of occasions, they found and fixed mistakes that other mechanics had made, including unnecessary work that didn't fix a suspension problem. Recently, my alternator started going bad. Being a cheapskate, and having replaced alternators before, I got a rebuilt part and set to work. I soon found that, in my Ford Escort, it's more complex work in a very small space. I was over my head. So I brought car and part to Venburg, and they were glad to do the repair for me with my part. The kicker is, when the rebuilt alternator turned out to be defective, they swapped it out again, and returned the defective part to the parts store for me, at no additional charge. These guys are golden!

Follow-up. It turns out, the "free" replacement, of a defective part that I had provided for them to install, was a misunderstanding. They had INTENDED to do the work at a big discount (because it wasn't my fault the parts store gave me a bad part), but not for free (because it wasn't their fault, either). In the end, however, they didn't charge me, even though I was willing to pay, because I had been told "free" over the phone, and they wanted to keep their word on the quoted price. I love this place!
