Our 1997 Mercury Villager mini-van had a horrible rotten egg smell coming from the exhaust for over a year. In addition the check engine light would come on and go off periodically during this time. Several maechanics we took it to could not find anything wrong with the van. Then last summer on a trip to Colorado we noticed that the van would bog down when going up a hill if the air conditioning was on. Again the mechanics could not find anthing wrong. Roger Baas was able to find the second Oxygen sensor was getting a wrong signal because a flex connector just before the sensor was worn through. He also found the fuel filter to be gunked up. By replacing the flex connector, the Osygenn senor and the fuel filter our van is once again running smoothly again.
