I remember when I was growing up my dad always under the hood of the car on weekends. I always knew he'd fix it the right way, since he was my dad (and an engineer, no less). Well, having Gary Ollet fix my car is just like having my dad look at it. I have the exact same sense of trust and good vibes about it. He is honest, and doesn't try to get you to buy some other stupid service or item other than the one that you are there to get fixed in the first place. He saved a couple of friends of mine $1450 one time. Midas was going to charge them $1500 to get rid of a noise in their 8 year old Chrysler. Gary looked at it and said, "this car is only worth about $1200. If it was my car, I'd do about $150 worth on it and forget about it." So that's what they did.

I have been a customer of Hopkins Tire and Auto for many many years, basically since Gary purchased the business from the previous owners. I have mainly had used vehicles and Gary has been a god send in keeping them running. We had a running joke about my old 87 Jeep that once I was gonna retire it that they would use a shotgun and put it out of its misery. This vehicle was a real problem child and Gary and his staff kept it running for many years. I also had a Dodge 600 dont remember what year it was but it had a problem back when you had to get the vehicle emissions inspected and I would take it to Gary each year and he would work on it and take it to the inspection station and get it passed, just another way he goes above and beyond the call of duty. I have had an excellent relationship with Gary and his staff and especially his daughter Lisa who helps him run the business, she remembers more about my vehicles than I do. If you are looking for a excellent mechanic who only does the work that is necessary Gary and his team at Hopkins Tire and Auto are the ones to see. I have recommended him to many people and will continue to do so.

I have a 91 Honda Accord LX that will be turning 200,000 miles this weekend and I think I can get it to go another 50-100,000 miles! Recently I had AAA tow it there in the night. I walked there the next morning (less than a mile from my home) and as I entered the office the owner Gary Oulette already had my file up in computer and greeted me by name. I was shocked thinking he was psychic or saw me walking outside and remembered my name. Turns out he ran the plate first thing that morning when he saw an unknown car in the parking lot and knew I'd be in shortly. They repaired the timingbelt, water pump and sealed a gasket for about $700.00. Gary lent me another car to use since they couldn't finish it all up the first day. Over the years they've worked on my Toyota Corolla, Pontiac Sunbird and Mercury Zephyr. I had some unemployment a while back and they worked with me on payment plans. I wish their hours were longer - they work M-F 7:00-6:00 and no weekends so other emergencies I've had to make quick trips to higher priced places, but I always try to get Hopkins Tire & Auto to repair it first. The service is always with a hometown smile and I'm glad I took a friend's advice when I first moved to Hopkins in 1981. His daughter Lisa also works in the business and she is a delight to talk to and very efficient. Highly recommended friendly and expert service. Thanks, Joanne Kucks, Hopkins, MN

They are great. They don't make you feel like you're inconveniencing them with your car problem like some shops I've dealt with do. They are mindful that their customers probably don't know a lot about cars or they'd be fixing it themselves. Prices are right in line and they don't make promises they can't keep. If a person is new to our area and needs a mechanic I'd drive 'em over myself.
