At first I was impressed with Whitney's friendly demeanor on the phone and in person, and the price he quoted me was the best in town. I was at 120k miles and knew it was time for a new timing belt, new spark plugs and coolant exchange. This work should take minimum 3-4 hours. It was somehow magically finished in only 1.5 hours, so when I picked up the car I insisted on seeing the old timing belt and old spark plugs (which you have the right to by law). He "couldn't find them". Then "found the spark plugs". Then finally "found the belt" but it was clear that they had done the accessory belt (10 minute job) instead of timing belt (3 hour job). I wasn't fooled (I know the difference). After confronting him about his outright dishonesty, he laughed and told me he didn't care and did stuff like this regularly. Then produced the estimate I had signed, where he had put the accessory belt instead of the timing belt. At least he admitted to me that he was dishonest, but he said "you aren't going to change me, this is what I do every day." He admitted to changing the timing belt to the accessory belt on the estimate and then sticking the estimate in front of me saying "sign here" and then laughed at me saying "bet you'll never sign anything again without reading it!" He had me over a barrel because he had lied to me and then gotten my signature, so I had little legal ground to stand on. The moral of the story: don't go here. If you do go here, read your estimate carefully and ALWAYS ask to see the parts lest he cheat you.
