I had taken my car in for new tires at another shop in town (Bob does not do tires). As part of the "service" by the tire dealer, they performed "diagnostic tests," and handed me a printout of all the work that should be done (by them, of course). I showed this to Bob, and he and his partner had a good laugh over how much money they could make if they did that! Bob has always been very fair with me. He does not do unneeded work, even when I have told him about what I have read on the internet (or learned from Click and Clack :-]). He has always explained to me what he did, and why. And, he also explains why he did not do something.

My car was not starting quickly and after a few days the gauges began to click at the zero position and then all came on at once after the car was running awhile. One car repair business wanted me to time how long the car cranked before starting. Another and Car Repairs said it sounded like an electrical problem which could take some time to diagnose. Turns out it was only my battery! Car Repairs charged only about 1/2 hour in labor for the diagnosis to be sure there were no other problems. Bob and the crew were very pleasant and, as someone who had work done there before told me, they didn't fix anything that wasn't necessary. Bob also showed me how quickly the car now would start and that the gauges were functioning properly. I would highly recommend them.
