I "inherited" my wife's Mercury Topaz when I got married. She had *just* had the transmission rebuilt in Florida a couple of months before, and the transmission was slipping. I took it to R C Trans & Gear on the recomendation of a friend of mine. They examined the car and found that it was the linkage that was misadjusted. Fixed it for free! About a year later I started having transmission trouble again (this car is famous for bad transmissions). I took it there and had them check it out, including dropping the transmission pan to see what was wrong. It turns out that the transmission was fine, but that there was not one but two broken motor mounts (something else this car is famous for), including the transmission mount, which was causing the problem. I called several places, and they gave me the best price. The car was fixed quickly. I have been happy with every aspect of dealing with them.

Called 3 places that wanted to just replace my transmission for $1100-$1400, they were the first one's to say they wanted to crack it open and see whether or not it needed to be replaced. They did look at the tranny and were able to rebuild just part of it for $400. Awesome. Also trouble- shooted some other shop stripping the head of my fill plug on the transmission at no extra cost.

This is the most honest transmission shop I've ever gone to. They do a good job, warranty their work, and are always very pleasant to deal with.
