I noticed that my front tires were wearing unevenly. Phil Cavill's Goodyear Service (the service advisor was Chet) confirmed my suspicion that the wheels were out of alignment. He also clearly showed me that the tread was separating on the front tires, and they needed to be replaced. They gave me a coupon for a $40 rebate on the tires I picked out, and I noticed while they were replacing the tires that the rebate was only good for purchase of 4 tires. When I pointed this out to Chet he apologized and did a tire repair for a nail on one of my good tires for free. When I got the bill I questioned one of the charges, and it turned out that instead of charging me $5 per tire for resetting the pressure monitoring system, they were charging me $20 per tire. Again an apology, and he blamed it on their computer. They also asked if I had noticed the clunking sound in the steering and I told them I had. They told me it was the intermediate steering shaft and it needed to be replaced and gave me an estimate of $280. They were entirely correct about the intermediate steering shaft, but the Chevy dealer did it for $214. I think they are competent but I do not see why they should be charging 30% more than the Chevy dealer does for the same repair. If you go to Phil Cavill's make sure you get an estimate from a second repair shop before you go ahead with the repairs. Also check you bill very carefully for overcharges.
