I am writing this in Nov. 2000. The proprietor of Racine Transmission is Mike Kozminski, who bought out the previous (retiring)owner of this business a couple of years ago. I have known Mike, and taken my Saab, BMW, Honda or Toyota cars to him for all kinds of service for about 15 years. He cut his teeth as a mechanic at a Racine-area Pontiac dealership, and then became a top mechanic at a Volvo/BMW/Mercedes dealership that was bought out over ten years ago. Since then he worked on cars out of his home garage (equipped with two lifts, and he still works there on weekends), but he took the plunge and bought the Racine Transmission business a couple of years ago. My experience with Mike is that he is an intelligent and impeccably honest person, who is willing to listen to what you tell him your concerns are (about your car) and give you good advice. I have recommended him to many friends, whether for routine/regular car maintenance, or especially when they have to make some difficult decisions about whether to fix a car or dump it. I have not patronized his Racine Transmission shop, but am certain that since he owns and runs it that if you talk to him there he will treat you as I have been treated.

a very poor experience at this shop. I had to take it back 4 times for the same issue. they got snotty with me and did not want to compensate me for having to get a rental car. joke of a shop. go somewhere where they value their customers
