The fixed a squeaking rear suspension part free that turned up after they had rotated the tires. The noise may have been a complete coincidence, but rather than argue, they checked it out, found the problem and offered a repair. Another time free of charge or protest, they loosened a lug nut that was so tight that the lug key would slip off the nut. Prices for routine services are low, usually you do not even need an appointment, and if you have to wait for your vehicle, service is fast while you read the newspaper and drink coffee they provide.

They fixed my tire in under an hour for just $15, one quarter of the cost of the big tire chains, which take all day.

My first experience with Comstock Tire was actually after I decided to go to a nationwide chain store first. For a big brake issue, Chain Store quoted me a crazy high price, so I called Comstock to see what they said. Comstock quoted me about $200 less AND offered to have a mechanic stay late, past closing, to get it fixed for me that day if I wanted. I was blown away by this. Unfortunately, the problem was too severe to drive the car away again (that did get Chain Store to drop their price though!), but I filed that away for next time. When I needed a mechanic again, I called Comstock without hesitation. Though it was a smaller problem this time, they happily accepted my car that afternoon and fixed what was wrong very quickly and for a good price. The only bummer is that their hours aren't terrific for folks who work in the day (7-5 M-F), but their website says they do by appointment on Saturday. If asked about where in Madison to take a car, I would have no problem referring them here.
