I'm a single female, don't know much about cars: have a beater that I need to make last. I have gone to these guys regularly for several years. They've worked with me to make good decisions balancing the cost of maintenance, safety, and the potential cost of buying a new car. They have always pointed me in the right direction regarding what to fix versus what not to bother with given my finances. They never made me feel cheep or stupid; quite the opposite. They take me very seriously and treat me, my car, and my relationship to it very respectfully. At the same time, they don't "ma'am" you and over-do the politeness the way the young guys at the local chain oil- changers do. They are very easy going: they are polite simply because they take their time with you, they are straight forward, honest, and knowledgable. It's like going to a shop where they know your brother or your Dad. Recently my car was giving off a terrible odor after getting heated up. It would only happen after 20 minutes or more of driving, and it smelled like burning rubber--as though someone was literally holding a lighter to the tire. I called Doctor Dons and they said to come by any time without an appointment when the odor was present. When I arrived, they looked around and in a couple of minutes they figured out I had run over a plastic shopping bag, which had stuck to my exhaust and melted. They explained how to scrape it off when the car was cool, and sent me on my way. No charge, of course. I love that kind of visit.

Doctor Don's does great work. We bring our cars from South Bellevue to Ballard because of their excellence, competence, and honesty. Their prices are lower than the shops near our home. I trust the owner completely and have done business with Ric for more than ten years. The world would be a great place if every tradesman, shopkeeper, and medical provider were as trustworthy, helpful, and experienced. You can't go wrong by selecting Doctor Don's as your mechanic.

These guys are the most honest mechanics I have ever dealt with. They are Nice, & run a very clean shop. An example: My car was running rough so I took it in. They called to tell me that the car definatly needed a tune up ($270), but also the distributor ($475) was dying. I asked what was the priority (being a poor girl) & They told me the tune-up as long as I replaced the distributor in 6 months. Wow, Thanks Guys!!!!!!!!!! Most mechanics would have told me "Your car's is going to blow up in the next day or 2 if you don't get both the tune-up & Distributor fixed Now" These Guys at Dr Don's are the greatest

Our car died and they fixed it for a decent price and didn't pressure us to do anything more with it (even though we probably should tune it up!)

For over two years, three shops (the Ford dealer, a Goodyear shop and Bernie's Automotive in Seattle) have told me the radiator in my Ford Explorer was cracked and needed to be replaced. It was leaking transmission oil from the cooler. I finally took the car into Doctor Don's and related this to the service advisor. After just a few minutes with the car, they concluded the cooler inlet fitting was leaking and needed to be tightened. Problem #1 was resolved in no time. They then diagnosed a couple other problems which were fixed correctly and for a reasonable cost. They did not recommend any work that didn't need to be done, but did point out some work done by another shop that apparently needed to be redone (a flush of the automatic transmission). I highly recommend this shop.

My car had not needed work in Seattle yet so I wasn't sure where to go. I found these guys on AAA on-line and MAN! WAS I PLEASED!!! My 1995.5 isuzu rodeo has over 150K and is needing some love, and they fix little things and told me what wasn't worth the price (and not a serious problem). The oil change price changes if you have other work done (saves a buck), and (the best part) THEY GIVE FREE ESTIMATES regardless of whether or not you decide to have the work done. Price is excellent, and work done quickly (or if they were really busy I just made an appointment for later in the week). VERY PLEASED, local, honest service, without the cost of the dealer. They seem to really know the cars.

I've taken three different cars to Dr. Don's (94 Geo Prism, 89 Mustang, and 99 Civic) and they've done a perfect job on all repairs. The Prism needed master and slave clutch cylinders replaced and they did it for >$150 less than any other shop I called. They've just recently opened a second shop near to the original so they have twice the capacity. They're super fast on the repairs and they almost always have an opening within 48hrs (sometimes I can get next day service). These guys are extremely friendly, and fair. I don't even think about taking my car anywhere else.

I recently had 2 major yet rather obscure problems with my car. Although it took a while to get to the bottom of both problems, they never wavered on their commitment to find the problem and fix it, all the while being fully informative and accomodating. They more than went out of their way to see that I was kept in the loop and were always sensitive to my time schedules and were more than fair in all their pricing. Kudos to these guys - I would recommend them to anyone!
