My starter konked out. I called Nielsen Enterprises and several other mechanics that I found on this website and asked them for a quote on replacing the starter. I got quotes from $300-$390, with Nielsen being the lowest. Then I called to get quotes from used parts stores on how much a rebuilt starter would cost. It looked like a rebuilt starter with exchange would cost about $85,not including labor to install it. I talked to Alan Nielsen about putting in a rebuilt starter. To my surprise they rebuilt my old starter and put it back in for only $100. This was a great value. They have thier own machine shop on the primesis. Neilsen's daughter runs the front office and was very helpful with suggestions for where to shop for used parts. They completed the job in only one day! The car works great! I am so happy with these people I know I will take my car back again and again.

Alan is a very knowledgable mechanic. He is as honest as a Pacific northwest summer day is long. His expertise and honesty has increased his business to the point where he's had to hire other mechanics who sometimes aren't up to Alan's high standards. But he always steps in to make sure that every customer's car is well taken care of.

Was willing to replace a timing belt when the engine was apart for a head gasket replacement without charging me extra labor charges for the timing belt. Many shops would have charged "flat rate" labor hours for both jobs, hence doubling up the labor charges even though most of the same engine components needed to be dissassebled and reassembled only once to complete both jobs.

The guys at Nielson Automotive made me feel comfortable in trusting them with my car repairs. As a woman its difficult to know if your in good trusting hands when you don't know too much about car repairs and with Nielson I knew I was not being taken advantage of. "Q" is a caring owner who took the time to explain what was wrong with my vehicle and he was extremely patient even though I had 2 munchkins pulling on me. I will be back here for ALL my car repairs & diagnostics!
