I saw the many rave reviews about the owner, Matthew Stewart, and I have to second those. But I felt that George was left out. He has kept my Fahrvergnugen Fox rolling for 10 years. He always dispels the phony diagnoses given by tire shops and oil-changing shops, and draws pictures for me when necessary. Curtis always takes care of getting my car in on short notice. Their hours aren't the most convenient, but it is well worth the trouble. No doubt Coastal will be around to pamper my next VW !!!

Over the years, Doctor Matthew Stewart and Doctor George Pillsbury, ably assisted by Curtis and Debbie at the front desk, have treated my 1978 Volvo 245 Wagon, 1984 Volvo 260 Diesel Sedan, 1988 Volvo 240 Wagon, 1998 Volvo V70 wagon, and their most chronicly ill patient, my 1967 MGB Roadster. I have presented to them all manner of bizarre and exotic illnesses and emergencies, some well defined and others completely baffling. They have never let me down. In many ways I have the same relationship with them that I have with my family physician: They know and care about me and my cars and will go the extra mile to make sure that my cars remain healthy. They have always been available to chat about car stuff anytime, and have given me valuable counsel when I was deciding to buy my 98 V70 sight unseen after finding it on the internet near Boston. After the umpteenth set of 6-volt batteries were installed in my MGB, Matthew gave ... that's right ... gave me a battery charger to leave connected to my MGB during its long periods of disuse in my garage. Ever since, I have not had to replace batteries, and it starts right up every time. Once I thought that I had inserted a foreign object into my MGB transmission through the dipstick fitting. Matthew personally disassembled the tranny until he was sure that the object was not there. We laughed about it together (and still do), but he never laughed AT me about it. That is not his style nor is it the style of his staff. Perhaps I shouldn't sing their praises so loudly; the more business they attract, the more difficult it will become for me to get an appointment. (Just kidding Matthew. I am waiting for you to break ground for the expansion project and to name the new wing after me. While this entry is anonymous, you know who I am from my MGB story.)

They were courteous and easy to work with. The mechanic took the time to really explain what was going on; he even showed me the defective part. I have recommended and will continue to recommend this shop to others.

I found Coastal Imports through this website after using 3 other mechanics in the area... I can't tell you how much I appreciate their ability to communicate clearly. They looked over a car I was interested in buying--gave me a list of things to take back to the dealer that needed to be improved upon and that saved me a thousand dollar brake job. They are nice, and most important, professional, and they don't treat me like I'm an idiot can't tell a bumper from a tire. (I can, but barely.) Thanks Curtis and Matthew!!

When my car had an unusual problem, Coastal Auto went above and beyond to help. They nailed the diagnosis the first time. They are competent, reasonable, polite, and professional. Mr. Stewart and his staff excel in competent customer service.
