While Bill Bryden owns the shop both Gordon and Tony are tne "master mechanics". They have been repairing my cars for over 15 yrs. They can do it all, literally. All of these fellows will take the time to fully explain the problem and what it will take to correct it (and prevent it if possible). Over the years I have been particularly impressed with the way the have dealt with my elderly mother, her lady friends, and my wife when cars have to be repaired. I believe that they have their customer's best interest in mind. Recently, my '94 Ford conversion van was in for a brake job. Rather than using "stock" brake pads they upgraded the pads to "high proformance" ones for 2 reasons: conversion vans are heavy and I occasional tow a utility trailer. A repair on my '86 Vette was not right because of defective parts and they "bend over backwards" to make it right. While auto repairs are not cheap, they recently replaced the timing belt on my '94 Nisson Pathfinder for decided less than a nearby Nisson Dealer. Give them a try. They are in Barcroft Plaza at 6345 Columbia Pike, Falls Church, Va. (703) 525-3545. "If they can't repair, you shouldn't be driving it".... (Richard King--Clifton,VA)

Bill Bryden has been working on our family's cars for atleast 15 years. My sister came all the way from Baltimore to have him look at her Nissan Sentra. He talked her out of most of the work she had in mind and instead recommended the work that would be the most valuable to her safety. Saved her about $800. We never buy a used car without having Bill and his buds check it over first. They are absolutely terrific. They have moved to Pickett Rd in Alexandria off Van Dorn St.

Bill goes to auctions and finds cars to suit customer requests. They are very reputable people. Sometimes he even drives the repaired car to our home and drops the keys through the mail slot!

Bill Bryden was referred to me by my fiancee, a customer of his for over seven years. She has purchased cars from Bill and returned to have them serviced. I have brought my 99 Volvo to Bill on numerous occasions for various repairs and I have to say that Arlington Forest is always timely, accurate, and affordable. Bill is quick to point out ways of saving money on repairs and does not try to oversell maintenance. I think the finest example of Arlington Forest's honesty is a $96 bolt. The steering column on my Volvo had a bolt which had sheared loose over time. I took the car to the dealership (DUMB!) where I was informed that my entire steering column neede to be replaced, for the unbelievable low price of $4100. I then took the car to Bill, who spotted the problem right away. A $4 bolt and almost an hour of labor, and I'm out the door for under $100. Bill makes a regular habit of going to car auctions and will find a customer the car they are looking for - and best of all you'll know it's in good shape. I cannot stress just how honest, dependable, fair, and talented the crew at Arlington Forest is.

Bill is the most honest businessman you will ever encounter. I like to tell the story of our first dealing almost 20 years ago. My vehicle had been given a VA state inspection (a local gas station) and was failed as requiring brakes. My neighbor recommended Bill to make the repairs. I took my car to him and told him to replace the brakes and I would pick it up in the evening. About an hour later, I got a phone call from Bill. He said there was nothing wrong with the brakes, and if I was willing to pay another $10.00 inspection fee, he would have it reinspected at another station and that, as it turned out, was the total cost. I gave him authorization to make a repair, but he is so honest, he refused to do the work because it was unnecessary. What more could you want from a repair shop? I've since bought numerous cars and trucks from him, and have steered family and friends to him for purchases as well. I've also had countless services performed by his shop, and I have never been disappointed.

Took my car to an Alexandria, Va, VW dealer for a brake problem and they gave me a $3400 estimate (purportedly found several more things that needed to be fixed.) Took it to Arlington Forest and they fixed the problem for $350, and told me I didn't need any other work. Also went to them when an engine repair light came on. Instead of charging $50 to jsut check what it was, they noticed the gas cap was loose, tightened it, and told me that this was the problem They were right. The light went off and they didn't charge a penny. Nice people willing to give you a lift to/from metro.

NEVER GOING BACK They tried to rip me off when I got my state inspection done. They failed me and tried to get me to pay for them to fix repairs. I took it to another shop and it passed, they didn't see anything wrong with my vehicle. Seriously pissed and offended that they thought they could take advantage of me. Not to mention they fact that they wasted my time and money. Way to be shady guys.

DISHONESTY is what you fear in a mechanic because you don't necessarily know the remedy, and you put your trust in them to provide that. I won’t dispute that they were definitely personable guys. My power steering was shot, and with a straight face I received a winded explanation of how i would need a whole new unit and 5 hours of labor totaling $2,300 for a new unit.

I would give zero stars if possible. I called this place before taking my car in, and explained the problem; it was an issue with my windshield washer fluid motor. They agreed to fit me in that day or the next, so I dropped my car off. I never got a call the next day, and had to call them to find out the progress on my car. It was then they told me that they were unwilling to fix my car. To clarify, they did not say that they were unable to determine the issue, just that they "DIDNT WANT TO GET INTO IT ANY FURTHER." And to add insult to injury, they blew the fuse that functions my windshield wipers and essentially left me with a vehicle that was less functioning than I dropped off. It is a good thing I checked my wipers and was able to quickly change a fuse, because it would have been terrible to be out in the rain somewhere with no wipers. I will NOT visit again.
