I have only used Roy once, but I was quite happy with his level of knowledge and skill with Volvos. He seemed very honest and forthright. Considering he is a Volvo specialist, I think his rates are reasonable. Prior to buying a used Volvo I looked around to see what Volvo mechanics were available in the Salt Lake City area. Unfortunately, the only choices worth noting are Herm's Automotive in Salt Lake City, the dealer (Ken Garf Volvo) and Roy's Automotive. Not having any competition and being co-located with Jaguar and Mercedes I fully expect the dealer will be overpriced. As I recall the reviews here are not very good for the dealer. Although I didn't buy a car from Ken Garf Volvo, the sales staff were quite nice. When I walked over to the adjoining Mercedes dealer I found the sales representative extremely arrogant. Every time I call Herm's no one answers the phone. I have driven by Herm's and seen lots of older model brick volvos, but not too much that's new. His hours are also very narrow, with the shop being closed during the lunch hour. I expect the owner of Herm's is probably quite competent but has one foot into retirement since he doesn't seem to work hard at getting new customers. Roy's Automotive almost always answers the phone, with an assistant answering at times. The shop is very clean. Having made an appointment Roy was available for some minor maintenance on a Saturday. As I am located in Park City, Roy's Automotive is a bit of a drive for me but I feel it is worth it for more substantial maintenance. Roy's Automotive website URL is: http://www.roysautoservice.org

Roy and Cody seem to be very competent and fair. After diagnosing my car's problem upon hearing my explanation, they gave my Volvo a thorough exam. Their diagnosis was spot on - they showed me the faulty part and fixed it. I highly recommend them and will definitely return for future Volvo service.
