I needed a new power steering pump for a 1997 Geo Prism. Because I had a $50 off coupon for the dealer I planned to go there for the replacement. Fortunately I called for a price first and was given a quote of just under a thousand dollars! I called several other places and most quotes were in the $300-400 range but it would take a few days to get me in and some places used remanufactured pumps. I called CJ Auto Works and they gave me a quote for $296.00 with a lifetime guarantee and could get me in that day. I took the car to them at 2:30 in the afternoon and it was done by 4:30. Wow! The shop was clean, the employees were professional in behavior and appearance, and the job was well done. I will definitely go there again for other repairs.

It's only my first visit, but I have been very impressed. I don't know if they normally have a shuttle service, but when I asked about it, they offered to have someone drive me home.

I recently took a front Drive shaft in to get a quote on having one side of it rebuilt. the quote they gave me was rediculously over priced! it was $10 shy of buying a completely new drive shaft from the auto parts store! i told them i would be back in to get my drive shaft and go somewhere else with it. i work out of town and it took me 3 weeks to get back home. when i went in to pick up MY part, they told me it had been sent off with their scrap metal! What in heavens name! no call, no notice, no "hey we need this out of our shop, can you have someone come grab it?" WHAT THE FREAK KIND OF BUSINESS DOES THAT?! they didnt even give me a "sorry for the mix up, heres 40 to help with the core charge on a new one." now im out at least 80 bucks for the core charge on a new one, my car is immobile STILL and they didnt even know how to help me look up what size i needed, considering it is a possibility of 3 different sizes (thank you jeep) I'll never suggest them to anyone, or return there! even if its the last shop on earth!

The 3 out of 5 rating for CJ auto is a great of example of how a small sample set can provide bad statistics. I have used CJ auto for 10+ years and 10+ different vehicles. I have NEVER had a problem with their integrity or their auto repair. Just a couple of weeks ago, my cousin was driving from Seattle to the Denver area in his 2002 VW Jetta diesel station wagon and his dash idiot light came on. He pulled into a gas station and had it checked. His transmission was having problems. The mechanic there told him that his transmission might last ten more minutes or for months. Since this was the start of his trip, he didn't want to risk a transmission failure along the route, especially going over the Rocky Mountains and in some of the remote areas he would be driving. He diverted to the Salt Lake City area, knowing that he could get a second opinion there. He showed up at our doorstep and asked if we knew where the VW dealer was. Since he was on a road trip and would be returning through Salt Lake in three days, I recommended that he call CJ auto and ask them to diagnose if there really was a transmission problem. CJ Auto got him right in and confirmed the original diagnosis and explaining the options for getting it repaired. My cousin and I looked at transmission repair/rebuild costs on the web the night before so knew what to expect. CJ Auto gave him a great price (hundreds less than the average web-quoted cost) and promised it in 4 days. My cousin rented a car and continued on his trip. The afternoon of the 3rd day it was ready and included a lifetime guarantee on the transmission. He finished his trip back to Seattle without a hitch, the Jetta is running great, and he is a very satisfied customer. Look through other review sites and you will find that the two negative reviews biasing the average are repeated on multiple sites... same two people, same two rants. The good reviews far outweigh the negative. No automobile repair shop is perfect but CJ Auto in Bountiful Utah comes close.
