Our Subaru blew a radiator hose and overheated during a cross-country move, out in the desert on I-10 east of El Paso. From the look of something splattered all over the engine, we thought it was a goner. We had it towed 55 miles (kudos also to Randy at Best Wrecker in El Paso, who was very patient with a couple of stranded DIY movers and charged us a very fair price) to Jay's Automotive II (the one on Lomaland). Jenny, who answered the phone on our initial inquiry from the road, was friendly and reassuring, which is why we chose this shop out of the two that AAA recommended. We got there at about 3pm, and when we explained our situation to Sam (due in Tucson that night, couldn't afford a hotel room) he diagnosed the problem, replaced the hose, gave us great advice about how to (hopefully) keep the car running, and had us back on the road by 6pm. Their charges were very reasonable, even considering the "emergency" service. We were surprised and extremely grateful. If we lived in El Paso we would use this shop regularly. They obviously care about their customers as people and not just customers. As it is, we made it to our new home in Tucson and two weeks later the car's still running.
