this mechanic will not rip you off and will not charge you if it takes minutes to fix.

Took the car in to check a small leak of transmission fluid, they checked it out, told me to save my money because it was not necessary to fix and charged me nothing.

While Pat and his folks "specialize" in GM cars, they've done work for me on everything from Fords to Nissan. They're very professional in the way they treat people, and everyone seems to be ASE certified. Not a cheap place, but fairly priced and they get it right the first time. It's worth it just to be treated intelligently.

Pat is as honest as the day is long. If he doesn't work on it he knows someone who does. He comes well recommended.

Pat is a true professional who learned the trade from his father and later received a college degree, which added a new dimension to his people skills and business knowledge. I have been taking my cars there for the last fifteen years (AMC, Olds, Honda, Dodge Minivan). Pat is very accurate in his diagnosis of problems and quick to advise if the situation is beyond the capability of his shop. Because he is knowledgeable of other competent specialty shops, he is in a position to offer referals much like doctors would do. But what I really like is that if what you think is a problem is not a problem or is not necessary to repair, then he is quick to let you know that, always leaving the repair decision to the customer. That always is a great confidence factor in his integrety. On the subject of treatment of male and female customers, it has been my observation that there is no distinction made. His approach is that he assumes that neither male or female knows anything about the problem or the operation of the car. That way he starts with a simple explanation of the analysis and solutions, giving several options and the applicable costs for each. His attitude and the information he gives out is not affected by the gender of the customer, and he will share as much information as the customer wants without talking down to me or my wife.

Pat is an honest, sincere individual who treats his customers with respect. Many times I've brought my cars to him and he is able to diagnosis the problems immediately and fix them in a timely manner. In one instance he actually drove it to someone else who could fix the problem because the other mechanic was a specialist in that particular area. I strongly recommend him to keep your cars, especially older cars, running smoothly.

I needed a mechanic for my 73 yr old mother's Toyota Tercel. She is too trustful regarding mechanics, I, a female experienced in auto mechanics, am very distrusting. I'm very impressed with Pats service. He has the knowlege and personal integrity that is difficult to find these days. The work was done thoroughly and timely. I'm greatful to have found Murphy's, and would recommend them with the highest regards.

This shop has worked on cars for my family for over 15 years. I have always been satisfied with the work performed and the way we have been treated. Pat always takes the time to explain why repairs are necessary, and why they may not be necessary. I would never hesitate to recommend this shop.

All four of us in my immediate family had probably used Pat's services for as long as I can remember during our time living in Arlington for the last 20 years. Now, my husband and I both turn to Pat when we need honest and reliable service for either of our cars. My folks moved out to the country, 45 minutes away and they, too, make efforts to come here to see Pat when they have trouble with either of their vehicles. I don't have a bad thing to say about Pat Murphy- he is a hard worker and a very personable man who always seem to have a smile and remember your name. He has gone the extra mile for us on more than one ocasion, not always charging us for his time and effort. If you are looking for a new mechanic you should definetely make an effort to get acquainted with him. It will be worth it and you won't go back to any other.

We have been using Pat Murphy for over 25 years and have always found him to be professional and competent. I agree with all the other comments and cannot add anything else except he is wonderful.
