When I moved to Nashville from North Carolina, it took me 3 years to find "my" mechanic. The Firestone up the street from me was unable to fix a problem I had been told I had, so I called around and John Autry said to come on down. Well, not only was it not the problem, it was a $25 repair instead of a $400 repair. Additionally, when needed I have dropped my car off to be worked on and used a friend's car for a couple of days. They are patient and explain everything (but not like you're an idiot). Eight thumbs up!

I went to get a simple fix of a plug in my tire, and they dropped everything to fix it. The Firestone nearby wouldn't fix the my problem so I was scrambling for somewhere to go. They got me in quick, brought me the nails in the tire, and double checked to make sure what they were doing was okay with me. Also, because they don't take credit/debit, let me drive home and bring them back a check.

  • happy go..
John Autry is very honest and a pleasure to entrust my car to. He explains the repairs needed, gives me options when possible and stops what he is doing when I arrive unannounced for something like his opinion on a used car I might be considering buying. John has worked on my friends cars, and they all tell me he does a wonderful job. A great mechanic when you need one.

My father has done business with John Autry for decades and thought it would be a good idea to take my 2001 Ford Focus SE to this shop after other shops could not locate the problem. I've had the fuel pump changed, new battery, new relay, etc and the car will still shut off, however, it will run again after a period of time. Every shop has previously stated nothing shows on the computer(after the car starts again) and the car needs to be examined during one of the "shut offs." 6/17 My father took my car to the JAA and, of course, the car didn't show any ill symptoms. My father told me to call John Autry(I was at work) and expl the problems(which I did). Mr. Autry told me the same thing other mechanics told me(car would have to be put on the computer when it was not running to locate the problem). Lo and behold, this happened Monday afternoon (after my father had left the shop and returned home)and my father called Mr. Autry and was told that Mr. Autry would get the car the next morning(6/18) if it did not start. Not only did the car not start, but Mr. Autry did not respond to the 7 messages my father left for him Tuesday. Today is Thursday the 20th and still no word from this owner or his shop. I guess he decided that it was not worth his time to keep his word and follow through with what he promised. If he did not want to service my unit, then a phone call expl they didn't want to spend the time looking for the problem would have been nice. Needless to say, I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS SHOP unless you only need a tire or oil change.
