Once and only once they did more work than I had requested. This was due to a "failure to communicate" on my part, I was not emphatic enough that I wanted only the minimum work done to make the car safe to drive. They did the job as if I were going to drive the car forever. After a pleasent discussion, on their part not mine, (I was steamed) they did not charge me for the work that I did not want done. This shop is run the way you would hope to find everywhere.

A year or two ago this review would have been almost nearly 5 stars across the board. That was then; this is now. For almost two decades this was THE shop where I took our family's cars, the shop I recommended to everyone from coworkers and out-of-town guests to stranded motorists I stopped to help. The manager, Bill R, had a well-deserved reputation for his car knowledge, ability to diagnose problems that dumbfounded others, honesty, and standing behind his work. He was often interviewed by news reporters on car related stories and many of us would not buy our next car without consulting bill about which models did or did not show up often for repair. Now Bill has retired and everything has changed. When my son's car recently had a starting problem they charged us what seemed like a high fee for a complete electrical check; they found nothing. As the problem continued and I decided to start replacing things myself to solve the problem, a local auto parts store clerk offered to do an electrical test on the car and found the problem...for free. Then I took my car in to this shop for an oil change and to have a bad front turn signal bulb replaced. They quoted a price of $69 dollars to take care of the bulb. This seemed very high, and the service writer's explanation that numerous items had to be removed to gain access to the bulb made no sense to me. So, I opted just to have them do the oil change. The next day I took the car to a shop near my office; total price for bulb, labor and taxes? Twenty-eight dollars. So here I am on cartalk searching for a new shop; don't think I will ever go back to this one again.
