....The guy is singularly the most honest mechanic in the world... I've been in there where he's tried to save shipping costs for the customer on parts...shipping...charged to the customer... I mean, who does that really...and get testy with the shipper... warning notes...don't lie to the guy...don't try and con him...don't tell him what someone else will do it for. (Now the secret stuff... I've been in there when some of the dealer ships have quietly brought their customers vehicles in because their factory trained staff are not up to the task. Including many on this search for this zip code. I've known him for years... but it doesn't effect the review... after all money, time, and service... is money, time and service. )

Tommy unhesitatingly took my "new" 1988 Ford F150 XLT Lariat under his wing after I had it delivered via private car delivery service from my father in law's house in Virginia. FIL gave it to my wife and I - i.e. me - after saying we probably won't want it because he hadn't driven it in two years. But Tommy took care of the thing by examining all the life forces of an old war horse F150. He tackled the fuel supply problem when the thing would run but shut off after about a mile or so. He is logical, he talks to you and gets the nuances of what's going on, he regards your personality and how your way of describing things and experiencing things may be clouding the mechanical issues involved. He then proceeds to work magic. My dream has come true, after having to sell my 1994 F150 when we moved down here to SC a year ago, I now have a beautiful running 1988. Tommy and his son are definitely worth the trip. They get to know you and even better get to know your car and they CARE that it gets fixed. My repairs took a little time but I told him to take his time as I didn't need it right away. Tommy O'Brien for President.

Whole family came down to SC to see Scotty Graduate at Parris. One of the cars lost a back wheel on 95 at 4 in the morning. No one knows how Crystal kept the Explorer upright and out of the woods! We 'fixed' the broken studs in the AutoZone parking lot with a pair of pliers and a rock. Being a Mechanic myself, I wanted to get this properly repaired. I looked on this site for a close shop and luck found us again when we saw that we were close to O'Brien's! I called, not telling him that I was a Mechanic, just an out-of-towner with a problem. Tommy and his son proceeded to bend over backwards to accommodate our busy graduation schedule. He's a quality Mechanic, who charges a very modest price, and actually cares.

This guy is a joke. He sits on Facebook being hyper aggressive. I got a really bad feeling from this guy and he proved to be what most Marines think about Beaufortonians, garbage. This guy is a bigot, dishonest, and most definitely not trustworthy enough to work on one of my vehicles. There see so many better places you can go. He has no respect for his customers or the Marines that live here in Beaufort. Avoid at all cost.

I have no idea who YOUKNOW is,, but he is way off the Mark on this guy!! The first time I used O'Brien's was for my 1987 BMW. It had been at five different places in this town. he last one had it for over a month. I had heard about O'Brien's but dismissed going to him because some said he charges are sorta high and that he is not friendly. Well LET me tell you what I learned. I took my car,( had it Towed due to not running), and when I looked in his place I was shocked. Yea there was the usuall clutter for a guy that has been in the same place for 24 years, BUT it was the Cleanest Independent Shop I have ever witnessed. It had a Very Eclectic selection of cars he was working on. A 1953 MG, 56 Cadillac, 71 Corvette (I later Learned was his), all the way up to a 2009 Mercedes. I explained the issue and he asked me various question as the when the problem began. I signed the work order and left. He called the next day to inform me that the crank sensor was faulty. Everyone that I asked said this guy would be the only one with the equipment, expertise and knowledge to determine my problem. I asked him if he was sure and he responded with if this doesn't fix your car you don't pay for the part. He assured me this was the problem and said he would have the part the next day. I said go ahead and do it. Well the next call was was for me to come get my car as it was ready. What?? Three days and it is again running?? I asked how he did it so quick when the five other places couldn't find the problem?? He said I can only answer for me,, I can not answer for the other Places. For what it is worth three of the other places said they thought my computer was bad, But were not sure. in the end they even said O'Brien's could figure it out. like some of my friends that swear by the Honesty of this guy,, I now trust only him to Diagnose Technical issues. I still go to the quick oil change places,,But O'Brien's got what it takes to Diagnose complicated problems!!
