I'VE KNOWN MIKE FOR ABOUT 15 YEARS NOW, SINCE I BOUGHT A 1971 CADDY COUPE DEVILLE, WHEN PUCHASED THE CAR WAS 11 YEARS OLD AND HAD 39K ORIG MILES ON HER...(CAR GARAGED, FROM OCT THRU MAY, (HEATED) ) ANYHOW, TWO KIDS LATER , YELLOW LAB, AND EX-WIFE. THIS CAR TOOK A BEATING, MIKE HAD ALWAYS MANAGED TO KEEP HER ON THE ROAD FOR ME, THE ONLY THING THIS 472 WOULN'T PASS WAS A GAS STATION!!!!...THRU THE YEARS I SHOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN FREQUENT FLIER MILES (FLAT BED TOWS), FOR THIS CAR BUT SHE WAS SWEET, MIKE BEGGED ME TO BUY SOMETHING NEWER, BUT THIS WAS MINE, BOUGHT AND PAID FOR..... REGRADLESS OF LIFT TIME OR FLIGHT TIME...MIKE KEPT THE EXHAUST PIPE IN LINE AS BEST HE COULD, BUT AND OCCASSIONAL BOTTOM OUT WOULD BRING ME BACK TO HIM FOR A STRAIGHTING, OF THE PIPES. FOR THE YEARS THAT WE HAD THIS LOVE HATE RELATIONSHIP WITH THIS CAR MIKE WOULD GRUMBLE, SEND EXPLICATIVE MY WAY, BUT KEPT HER ALIVE AND WELL...FOR THIS I'VE GOT TO THANK MY MECHANIC PUBLICLY...THANKS MIKE....

I had my 1998 Ford Explorer towed in to Baxter's from a different repair shop because the truck was bucking, skipping & wouldn't stay running. The first repair shop told me I needed a new motor because I had bent valves. To my surprise, the service advisor from Baxter's called me & told me I needed a set of ignition wires & plugs. For less than $125.00 I drove my car out the same day. Thank you, Baxter's.

I regret to add to other comments that in my experience Baxter's cannot be trusted with serious mechanical work, even at the level of an elective timing belt replacement. Based on Car Talk's recommendation, I asked my daughter-in-law to have the belt done on schedule at 105,000 mi at Baxter's, near her home (I live in MA). One week after they did this for my absolutely solid Subaru family car, the engine broke down, and Baxter's went into full evasion mode, though they bounced around with explanations and worked again on the engine for me, at my significant cost; they ultimately settled on the head gasket excuse, with no physical evidence whatsoever of any gasket problem (I was able to get the gaskets from them, or someone's gaskets). Despite costly engine seal re-replacements at another garage, the engine broke down two more times in the next year before we had to junk the car. For various reasons, I could not go after them (out-of-state, car on loan to third party, etc.) Family members now invoke the word "Baxter" as both verb and noun whenever anything inexcusable appears on the horizon. I have actually spared some of the more lurid details of this experience.
